Grand Cru version of our barley wine New Ligt. Brewed once a year in a limited edition and bottled with the filling year on the bottle. We make this brew slightly stronger than the normal Nieuw Ligt, it contains 12% alcohol. We let the bottles age in the brewery for a few years before selling them.
After 5 years or so, the flavour really comes into its own. The taste of ageing is reminiscent of an old port or sherry. The beer's sharp edges soften with age. the beer's deep, sweet flavour with its spicy and fruity aromas creates a taste explosion that lingers for a long time.
